so these are my two african fat-tails. the smaller one is a female [with the full point on her tail]. the underside of her tail has a slight orange color to it, especially after she sheds [she did two days ago]. she's about six years old. the bigger one is the male [with the curved end on the tail]. he has brilliant silver eyes though you can't tell in the pictures. i'm not too sure how old he is, when i bought him they didnt tell me. she's laid three clutches of eggs so far, unfortunately none of them were fertile. if i wake up i see them laying on each other sometimes, its really cute :]
shame on me, i haven't named them.
but yeah here they are.

Ah, they're cute! Do you have weights on them?
Do you leave a little dish with calcium powder in the cage for the female? ( I do that for all of mine, they can lick it when they want or need to. I do that with hatchlings too!)
He's quite a bit bigger than she is, you may want to think about separating them so she can gain some weight back, (I had to do this with a pair of my Crested geckos) because the male will mate her until she's exhausted and she can't gain the proper weight for egg production.
I think of is as "burning too many calories" so to speak.

no i havent weighed them yet, once i do i will post. and no i havent put a dish of calcium in, i do that for my baby leo, and all he does is walk over it, so i thought the other would do the same.
and i just got crickets for them, when i feed them i let the female eat first and take the male out, and when she eats half i take her out and put the male in to eat the rest. i think the last time she laid eggs was around the middle of last month, and i think she might have two more inside her.

I figure that when I feed, the crickets hop all over the place and having the extra calcium never hurts.
The female may be eating what she needs, but if the big male is mating her all the time, she's then burning off all those calories that she needs, which might be why her eggs aren't working out.
Take a look at some of the other fat tails in these threads and see how plump their tails are? (Simply Vivid and Lecko my Gecko both have some perfect examples) Your female's tail should be really really fat like that before she's even put with a boy.
I separated my two because BurgerButt kept getting Galaxy gravid, and I wanted her to take a rest. You don't want to hurt them by too much breeding.
Your girl is also 6 years old you said? Do you know if she had ever been bred before? (I mean before you acquired her?)

yeah before i put the crickets in i put calcium dust in the bag and shake it around a little. when i get more money i'm going to see if i can get a tank divider so i can separate them sometimes, my tank is kinda large [20L].
i acquired the female from my boyfriend, though, and he got her a few months after she hatched, so i highly doubt there was any breeding going on before he bought her. and i'll take your advice and try to make a divider so i can separate them tonight.
