Exclamation My Gecko + moving = good/bad?

I just bought a African Fat Tail gecko on saterday. On web sites it says it puts stress on them when they move or change of scene. He's already a bit over a year. (what last owner said) So I gave the gecko his space so he can get used to the room and me, (their housed in diffrent tanks)

Any suggestions?

I think sometimes too much emphasis gets put on stress. Try to keep his routine pretty regular and the arrangement of stuff in the cage the same. Do what you need to do, go on vacation, get moved and once you settle down, your gecko will too.

That's what I would do in my opinion. THink of all the reptiles that get put into deli cups, driven a few hours to the show, displayed in their deli cups all day and then taken back to their own homes or to new owners' homes (I know, I just went through that [not in the deli cup myself] in Portland, ME on Sunday).

I think they adapt even better when they're moved in their own "cages" because they're still in their "established territory". Just make sure that nothing heavy is loose and could roll or fall on them during transport, they should be fine. As long as the temps don't fluctuate like insanely (i.e. freezing weather to super hot) and they can hide somewhere, they'll feel secure and survive it just fine. Good luck, have fun on the vacation and show!
