First off I have to establish the fact that I've never BRED fatties, but I did raise my male from when he was about a month old, so I'll tell you what I know:

1: Paper towel is a good choice for substrate
2: Mist half of the baby's container once or twice a day?? (looking for experienced input)
3: Keep babies as warm as adults. Use an undertank heater.. (exact temps anybody?)
4: A good rule of thumb is you should feed the hatchling insects no longer than the distance from its nose to eyes, and no fatter than the distance between the eyes.
5: Don't forget to put hides on the warm side and the cool side of the cage, and to vitamin dust the crickets every few feedings. Congrats =)

Hello!

courtney gave you very good advices
I breed AFT and raise my babies like this :
I put one baby by box, with papel towel and two hides.
the box is not very big and dark, because babies can be a little shy and can stress.
A lot of them start feeding after 4 days, sometimes more (one of mine start after 7) so don't worry about that.
you will have to mist once a day because they can suffer from a lake of humidity.
if you have some questions don't hesitate

I kept my baby AFT's last season in a rack so it was always warm and humid with daily misting. I kept the cage very simple: 1 or 2 hides (1 or 2 babies per box), water dish, calcium dish. I fed small (up to 1/4" crickets). I did find with all my clutches, that after eating at first, they went through a period where they didn't eat and the tail got skinny pretty fast. I kept offering and in every case, after a week or two they started eating a lot and got big fast.
