First of all: Great choice. African fat tails are awesome geckos, and amazing animals in general
I have mine in a Terrarium, having a temperature between 22°C and 34°C (71°F - 93°F) and a humidity of 50% - 70% during the day, and between 75% and 80% at night. (For breeding, and to care for them right, you have to drop the humidity for two months over winter to 40% -50%, it's to simulate the dry season)
As a substrate I use a mix of Sand/bricked earth (5/1, so it's hard enough for the gecko not to sink in or to eat it when feeding) and coco humus. Also, I have terrarium moss in one part of the terrarium, to keep the humidity where I want it.
AFT's are easy to care for geckos, if you follow some simple rules, but I'm sure you'll make it.
yours,
Fabrizio
