Default FT Activity-or Not

Pardon the ignorance as I am a total newbie to FTs and geckos in general. My question: How active are geckos? I think I created a pretty nice environment for my FT. I just never see her. She loves her fake rock hide and I check on her daily. I do have a red light bulb to observe nocturnal activity. Don't see any of that either. In all fairness, I brought her home on Sunday (today's Tuesday) and she is most definitely gravid (as shown to me by the seller). TIA

African Fat Tail's tend to be more shy and reclusive than other similar geckos like Leos or Banded Geckos.

Give her plenty of time to settle in and she may start coming out more where you can see her. AFT's in a new home tend to pick a safe spot and stay there, any movement and they go right back to it. Expect your girl to be like this weeks, maybe months.

aft's must be one of the laziest (and shyest) geckos out there. they make wonderful pets because they are fine with being held, but do not expect to see them out and about.

if you give your geckos lots and lots of cover then they will be more active (moving while hidden) but then you still wont see them.

long story short, dont feel bad, fatties like to hide. its what they do.

I just brought mine home yesterday and can already tell a big difference between him/her and my leo! I'll give it some time...he/she will at least let me pet him when he does come out.

As mentioned above, they aren't very active. I have 3 in a 20 long and they have a nice routine: they spend nearly all their time in their hides on the hot side, which is divided from the rest of the tank by a low plexiglass wall, since I have drainage and plants on the other side. After they get fed, one or more of them will climb over the wall and hang out in the "forest" for awhile. They remind me of lions resting in the bushes.
