Question Fat tailed gecko will not eat. Please HELP!

We had two very healthy fat tailed geckos and gave one away. Now the gecko has not eaten for over 6 months. It's tail is thinning and seems very weak. We have tried to feed it by dropping water drops mixed with meal worms on its nose. It is still shedding and moving around. Today it pooped green liquid with white substance. We do not know what to do. Please help if you have any information on this. We are afraid that the gecko will die any day.
Thanks,
Emma

On the one hand, I have had issues with some of my fat tails going off food and having a hard time getting started again. However, yours sounds like it may be sick as well. I would recommend taking the gecko and a fecal sample to the vet. In addition you could try the following:
--take a look at its underside. If it has a large, dark colored patch in the abdomen, it may have an enlarged liver. I had a fat tail with this problem (her liver was huge and was making her abdomen stick out; the vet couldn't help) and hand-fed her for the 10 months that she lived
--hand feed the gecko: even though they prefer crickets, I have found mealworms easier to hand feed. hold the gecko gently in your hand and push against its mouth with one end of the mealworm. Hopefully, it will take it.
--if solid prey items are too much for it, try squishing a mealworm or cricket and putting the guts on its nose to see if it will lick it off.

Good luck

Aliza
