Hey guys,

Two weeks ago I borrowed a friends male AFT to go with my two amel girls. One female definitely is gravid and it looks like the other one is as well. Their appetites have greatly increased (I'll probably pick up some pinkies tonight). They've both been hanging out in the humid hide/lay box.

My geckos like to use my lay box as the corner to defecate...it's annoying. Will this be a huge problem if I keep up the cleaning?

I have them in a naturalistic vivarium with soil/peat and live plants. The females have been hanging out in the lay box for a few days straight now. Do you think they will lay in the egg box or in the peat moss?

I currently have moist moss in the lay box. When I bred leopards many years ago I used vermiculite with success. Which do you recommend?

If you keep cleaning out the lay box it shouldn't be a problem. I've had the same situation. Hopefully they'll lay in the box. When they start seeming restless and you can see the eggs in the belly more or less full size, just keep putting her in the lay box, but check often to see if she's laid her eggs and if they're not in the lay box, look around for them. I use only coco fiber for lay boxes for all my gecko species, so I can't comment on any other substance.
