View Full Version : Expecting 1st N.l.levis hatchlings, anything I should know?

I am so excited! I am at day 59 with my first N.l.levis clutch, and am pacing around like an expectant parent. I understand that the hatchling's first shed is critical... what can I expect? When do I offer food? Any/all advise is welcomed.

I would not offer food for at least 4-5 days. I sometime wait longer. I have already given my baby amyae that hatched out their first food, and they were so interested in eating them...and did.

Levis you want to keep moist...humid...dunno about first sheds?

Having not really had anyone to advise me on hatchlings, I have always put them onto substrate after they hatch, and have fed them about 2 or 3 days after hatching.
So far, I have only had one hatchling die, and I think that was because he was 'not quite right' anyway (and he decided he didnt want to eat).

I know many breeders dont recommend putting hatchlings onto sand etc but from personal experience, Ive never had a problem.
