View Full Version : Mealworms - dead or alive?

I'm desperately new at this world of geckos, but trying to get as much info as possible...so please bear with me. We have a little western banded gecko and I'm not sure he/she is eating. We put a couple of mealworms in his habitat and it's been 24 hours and they are still there. Could they be too big for him? The gecko is only about maybe 3 inches long. (He's still bigger than the worms) Question is: should I cut the worms in in half? But then, I have no idea if geckos like their food dead or alive! Does it matter? I'm sorry for being so new, but any information would be much appreciated! He seems healthy...roams around a lot, but not eating. I did put a baby cricket in there and can't find it now, so maybe he ate it, I honestly don't know, there are so many rocks and little places to hide, it's next to impossible. I have studied up on WHAT they eat, but can't seem to find out how much to put in there and how often. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!
