Just now have two eggs in the incubation who will hatch in a couple of weeks. Last year i produce 2 tokays. but then i only got one female. this year i got one group more. and Ullikovski i'm waiting on some eggs of my female! :D so in to 2008 i hope to get some more babys..

Sounded good to me. So you only produced 2 babys out of your pair? My female has produced 16 eggs this year for me so far with no signs of stopping. Your groups look awesome with very nice colors. Hopefully your production rate will go up a bit.

What kind of temps do you keep your tokays at during the day and night? How much and how often do you feed them?

12-07-2007, 06:21 AM
Day it's 26-32 Celsius and a hot spot at 35 Celsius and at the night it is 23-25 Celsius.
I feed them 4 to 5 times a week!

12-07-2007, 08:54 AM
I see why they are not breeding as much as they could be! You need to use Fahrenheit temps! Just messing with you. Do you know what that would be in Fahrenheit? I do not know Celsius at all? Just looks like you are trying to freeze them to me lol. I have my basking spot around 92F during the day and the rest of the cage is 80-85F and at night I try not to let them get cooler than 78F or around that when they are breeding. Your feeding schedule sounds good.

12-07-2007, 09:46 AM
Haha, :D
In the spot 35 celsius =94-95 F
Rest of the cage 26-30 celsius= 79-86 F
Night 23-25 celsius= 73-77 F

12-07-2007, 12:23 PM
Christians basking spot is 35C = 95F and the day temp 25-32C is about 80-85F and the night temp is 23-25C = 75-77F so he has about the same temps as you :)

The picture of the 3 Tokays with the eggs on the wall behind them. One of the Tokays was darker, on the left. Is that a normal discoloration for Tokay's? We just rescued one and want to be sure he is healthy.

01-02-2008, 05:05 PM
That is not a discoloration. That is just the color of that tokay. Diff locals have slightly diff colors.

Before shedding they also get darker.
My male is darker than the female when he gets at his darkest his almost black.

Same animal (female)

Thank you so much for your help! We are new to Tokay's and Gecko's but not reptiles. We enjoyed setting up his vivarium and we are making a trip this weekend to get some more rocks to make it more like some others we seen on this website. We are trying to get a regular eating habit down with him so I will be TRYING to feed him a pinky this evening. Here are some pictures of him dark and mad at me for misting the cage... LOL

Always wondered if someone was selective breeding them on color.
Dark ones seperated from bright ones.
Who knows after a while you get a tokay looking like a golden eyed Gecko stentor and a tokay looking like a bright grey-blue Hemidactylus turcicus
