i have read that the females can store sperm. if this is true how long can she store it for. i was just wondering because if youre trying to get a new morph how can you guarantee that the male youre usings sperm will be used and not just stored sperm from previous breeding?
hope that makes sense

Hi

Yes they are able to store sperm for quite a long time.
When i got my new females they produced fertilized clutches after a 1/2year without meeting a male!
I think if they mate again the stored sperm will be replaced...but i'm not sure.

cheers. when i got my first pair a few years ago i separated them but the female still produced fertile eggs for quite a few months after. i just wasnt sure if the stored sperm would be replaced after a new mating.

I've bought a female that for 1 year have produced fertiles eggs with no males around. All the eggs excepts for the first one, was good.

I think that if the female have a lot of new sperm will use it instead of the old one, but is just speculation.. it must be proved.
