View Full Version : Gargoyle Lighting

I've been using room lighting during the day for my gecko, and at night there is no lighting at all, pitch black. I want to know what people think about lighting specifically for the gecko, not UVB necessarily, but if he should have his own dedicated light above his enclosure, and maybe having a dim, blue bulb to simulate moonlight.

My gargs just get natural sunlight. I might use a light on very cloudy days in the winter, but that is primarily for the plants in their enclosures. My gecko room has windows facing east & south, so lots of natural light. At night I leave the blinds open so they can get a little natural moon light. Mine seem to prefer completely or almost completely dark room at night....they are more active & eat more for me this way.

Thanks for the response, I think I will try some dedicated lighting above his enclosure, since he is away from a window because I'm worried about too much heat. I'll continue to leave it very dark at night though.
