Default Terrarium Setup for Phyllurus

Hello all,

I have a pair of Phyllurus caudiannulatus and Phyllurus platurus coming this week. I have Zoomed 12x12x18 and 18x18x24 Naturalistic Terrariums I can use for them (Petsmart has a great sale on them now). I would love to hear how some of you have set terrariums up for these species. Pictures would be most appreciated as well. I'd very much like to make them as natural looking as possible. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Steve

Well, I must say, I am a Phyllurus fan. My two pairs arrived today. I love the tail gestures and the vocalizations. I'm still working on getting the terrariums the way I would like them, but I am very pleased with these guys. My kids love them too. Thanks Derek and John.

Steve

I set them up with a pete moss substrate and cork bark pieces for them to climb on or hide in between. No heat source and I keep them really humid by daily sprayings. They are easy to please geckos.

No heat for these guys just ambient temps all year. I keep the background jammed up with some bits of cork so neither geckos or crickets can get behind. Crickets are the worse they get behind and nibble the back ground

i guess that is perfect when you live up north , its so cold down here, i took my background out of my marmorata tank as i worried they might hide behind it,they are pretty shy as it is.

Actually the problem with these leafies is keeping them cool, i get worried about them on hot days.So far this winter it hasnt got below 17 degrees in their enclosure and im quite worried this hasnt been enough of a stimulus for the coming breeding season. Only time will tell.
Oeduras get into everything, with the background once you have your cords thru i fill the rest of the gap with cork tile.

thanks Warren for the tips ive been wanting to put backgrounds in my tanks but have noticed not many do that , i shall go find some cork tile , the leaftails are very tempting i have an all mesh tall zoo med enclosure that would probably suit them too.

seschafer when they are settled it would be great to see some pics of the pair you just obtained.
