Default Oedura coggeri newbie - suggestions re tank/feeding?

Hi all...

Wife and I have been wanting to get into reptiles for a long while, and I finally bought her a tank (300mm x 300 x 450 with mesh roof, Exo-Terra brand in Aus) we're setting up now, and have committed to purchase two O.coggeri (and am waiting on import permit - required when moving them between states in Australia).

I've had heaps of help re tank setup (accessories, heating etc) in another forum, but I'm just wondering about temperature and feeding. We're total n00bs at this point, and just wanting to learn as much as possible so they're happy and healthy (but don't want to breed yet, until we're comfy keeping them in general).

What temp is ideal for this species, Oedura coggeri, can anyone assist? I assume they'd want a warmer area and a cooler area, which shouldn't be a problem; I've got a night-glo globe for night viewing which also provides some heat, but didn't really get the tank above 22 degrees C (72 degrees F), so I'm also getting a heat mat to go on one side of the tank, on the upper half so it keeps them warmer when climbing (which I know this species prefers).

What about feeding? How often/how many crickets each (I'm aware of the size ideals, ie same as gecko head size etc)? I've got calcium power to cover the crickets with, how often would you use that, every time?

Thanks for your time!

Default Thanks!

Thanks for that Elizabeth! Sorry I didn't even see an Oedura subforum, as soon as I saw 'n00b central' I thought "that's me"

Keep mine max temp about 29-31 deg on the warm side. i heat my oeduras with both a heat mat under neath and another on the side.
feed every 2-3 days and dust about every 2nd or 3rd feed. probably about 2-3 crickets each, be wary as oeduras do like to eat too much and find some can become fatties
