Default North-east Queensland Gecko Assortment

Here are some photos of wild geckos that I have taken within the last year here in north-east Queensland. I'll leave out photos of Phyllurus amnicola since I recently did a post regarding them. Photo quality is a bit variable as a lot of these images were taken with old and rather crappy lenses (I'd also like to think my skill has progressed).

We'll start with the Charters Towers area.
Lucasium steindachneri

Strophurus williamsi

Oedura castelnaui

Still technically a gecko, Lialis burtonis.

Moving north to the Wet Tropics bioregion now.

Nactus cheverti at Cape Tribulation.

Saltuarius cornutus

Carphodactylus laevis

Now west to the famous mining town of Chillagoe.
Heteronotia bonoei

Gehyra dubia

More Nactus cheverti.

The always awesome Cyrtodactylus tuberculatus.

Continuing even further north to Iron Range.
Nactus eboracensis

And back down to the Cooktown area for the Black Mountain endemic, Nactus galgajuga. These guys proved to be a challenge to get close to.

Thats all for now. More posts in a few weeks. I hope you enjoyed it!

Stephen

Beautiful picture! Thanks for posting them. It's so nice to see some wild ones and where they live.

Did you find that skull too? I'd consider that a favourite souvenir of the outing.

I did find that skull. I own two L. burtonis skeletons, in fact. I found one deep in a cave while spelunking in Chillagoe and another under some tin in a recently burnt area here in Townsville.
