Default Fruit flies?

Hello All,

I hatched out 3 beautiful little Strophurus strophurus over the last few weeks. They are doing well on tiny crickets, but I'm really not enjoying the need to continually purchase 1/8" crickets which seem to be rather perishable. Has anyone tried feeding fruit flies to hatchling Strophurus? Any other prey items that work well with hatchlings and are easily accessible in the US?

Thanks,

Steve

Have you tried mini-meal worms?

My baby Strophurus williamsi love hatchling Blatta lateralis, even more so than crickets.

agreed I was going to say look into feeding hatchiling Lateralis!! I am going to start a colony of this species of roach besides Blaberus boliviensis hybrids that I use for most of my full grown gecko species besides the smaller Australian species.

Thanks for the info all. Honestly I'm a little concerned about bringing in any other type of roaches into the house other than dubia. I don't think that will go over well with my wife!

Thanks,

Steve

I know exactly what you mean, Steve! Those Blatta lateralis are swifter than dubia and, I think, have a greater chance of escaping and causing problems. Those very reasons have stopped me so far from keeping them.

I am interested if the Blaberus boliviensis hybrids burrow into sand like dubias? I will also be trying B. latteralis for a just hatched Strophurus williamsi.
