Default Suggestions for laying container/area for N Asper (or Amyae)

Hi all,

In preparation for the coming breeding season I am planning a laying site for my N Asper, and I am very interested to hear how others set their enclosures up for their females. I have an incubator ready and waiting.
Yes I know next breeding season is a long while off, I am just in the process of setting up more enclosures and wanted to plan them properly, I am also secretly hoping I may still get some eggies this season LOL

I am contemplating using a seperate laying container (ie a round or small rectangular take away container) with a moist substrate, and a gecko hole cut into the lid, and burying this into the deep/moist sand area of their enclosure so the lid is flush with the surface. I know some people just have a mounded and moist area of sand however I am worried I may damage the eggs when digging them up....

Looking forward to hearing what everyone else is doing.

T.I.A,
Nick

Hi Nick

No need for a laying container - not necessary.

In the enclosure moisten 15-20cm of deep sand on one side - make sure it is thouroughly moistened right through. Place a hide on top.

You will know when she has laid by sand being scattered everywhere - plus she will look thinner.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Troy

Thanks Troy,

I already have a corner pile with sand that is kept moist.

She is looking chubbier but I think that is because she has porked up a bit rather than carrying eggs, LOL

Cheers,
Nick
