I'm very much at the start of the learning curve about Nephrurus. I was curious about why you are interested in this genus--many herpetoculturists are attracted to specific species or genera for various reasons. With so many types of geckos to choose from, what was it about this genus that got your attention?

Nephrurus looks very cute!

Yea, they are cute, their eyes are incredible too. They have incredible features like rosettes on the surface of their skin plus they have a perfect knob at the end of their tail which is really strange and is unknown as to why it is a knob. They have interesting behaviors and most inhabit very small areas of Australia only.

I've always wanted to own smooth knob tails (levis levis) and finally got a pair last year. I learned how to brumate them, which was new for me as I only kept rhacodactylus and leopard geckos before that. They have very interesting body language and awesome huge eyes with little pot bellies, and their skin is super smooth (though you can't pick them up much or you'll stress them). I prefer observable pets so they worked well for me. Though I will say there issues with live prey can be frustrating, they are easily overwhelmed by a few crickets at once.

I guess you have read the paper (by A. Bauer i think) about looking into if the "knob" may be used for something to do with environmental monitoring?
