I was told on another board that this is a banded gecko.I went to the petstore and bought what I thought was a leo.Am I stupid or what?Well at least the petstore is stupid too.
Here is a pic.I have him in a 10 gal with the normal leo setup, two hides, dish of calcium, water on paper towels.

Mine is alot darker then those. Can you tell how old it is? The coin inthe pic is a nickel so you can see he is very small probably less then 3inches.
I really should take him back but its a 3hr round trip to the petstore.I have no idea how to care for one of these little guys.Im just wondering how he got mixed in with a load of baby leos. There was one other one that looked just like this one but was yellow.I almost took him but he was way smaller then even the baby leos.I really thought he was some strange leo morph.

Keep him, they're awesome! a bit nippier than leos, but they mellow out with age. They do like a bit more humidity than leos.

As has been written before: Keep it more humid than leos.

My setup looks like this: 16x20x14 inches(bottom 16x20 inches, height 14 inches). Potting soil as a substrate and different plants as decoration.
One humid hidebox and several dryer and smaller hides(broken plant pots).

Temperatures in the high 70īs to low 80īs during the day and in the low 70īs during the night.
Spray lightly each evening and feed with small crickets and mealworms.

Iīll try to post a picture tonight.

I took him off the papertowel and put him on damp sand/cocofiber mix.I put a 40watt UTH over the tank and gave him three hides a piece of slate and water dish.
He still hasnt eaten anything but he did kill both crickets I gave him.I also gave him mealies but he didnt tough them.
Does he need a dish of calcium or do I need to dust his food?
I usually dont dust my leos food cause I know they use the calc. dish. I do dust my tokays food about 2 times a week.
I notice he licks his face alot, is this normal or is he thirsty?
Also is there anyway to sex him/her?
Or any idea on age? Is it full grown or still a juvie?

Sounds OK to me. Donīt worry about him/her eating just yet. Let it settle in for a few days before you feed it and just make sure it gets fresh water.

Try to feed it smaller crickets. If the crickets are too big they can manage to kill the cricket but will have difficulties with swallowing them.

It really doesnīt matter how you provide the calcium as long as the gecko eats it. If they eat from a calcium dish itīs fine. Personally I dust all the crickets I give to my geckos but some also have an extra dish inside their vivarium(eg Lepidodactylus lugubris which lay A LOT of eggs).
Better safe than sorry, right?

The licking of the face is most likely a comfort behaviour, so donīt worry, its normal.

Judging from the pictures you have taken the size of the gecko indicates that itīs full grown. If that is the case you should be able to see if it has hemipenile bulges by the base of the tail. If that in turn is the case you have a male. If it hasnīt, it s a female Perhaps you can get a close-up of the tail base?

The age is not possible to say, only if itīs a juvenile or a fullgrown animal.

Iīm also posting the promised picture of my setup. Itīs rather new so the plants havenīt had much time to grow to the intended size, but I think you get the idea...

Well he is definitely a boy, he has the bulges.I actually noticed those right away but wasnt so sure since I was thinking in terms of leos and wouldnt be able to sex them that young.
I love your setup, I have small piece of plastic plant in my tank but am horrible at keeping real plants alive.I see your little gecko, he looks cute. Now that I know he is going to stay so small I wish I had a couple more to put in with him.
