Default Sad news

It seems little Henry somehow got out of his 2.5 gallon starter tank, and we think became a snack for the puppy (who eats anything that moves, unfortunately). Really sad day here (well, the past couple days, actually)

Just wanted to let you know.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry, too!

Try not to be too sad. You tried your best--he had a great, safe home provided to him and it was his choice to leave it. And who knows? Maybe the dog didn't get him and he made his way to the great outdoors to live a crazy, happy, wild life!

Well, the dog's been sick the last couple days... although he's eaten all kinds of critters before and nothing's made him quite this sick... who knows! Could have been a big cricket with bug spray on it... I like to think Henry went back out through the garage, like he got in. That sure was a smart gecko though! I had no idea they had problem solving abilities!

Learn something new every day, hu?

I do plan on another gecko someday... maybe a leopard gecko... once I get a much larger tank with a very snug lid.

Haha, yah, he was a smart little bugger! I'm sure those smarts will help him throughout the rest of his journeys, too.

Yes, I totally agree with you about learning something everyday.

And I think a leo would be a wonderful pet for you! There are lots and lots of morphs out there. Do searches online and take your time choosing (says the girl with 18 leos because she kept discovering new morphs that she liked slightly better than some of the previous ones she had purchased ). I would recommend ordering from a reputable breeder online over purchasing at a pet store. Even though you end up paying more for shipping, and possibly even the animal itself, it's worth it to have a healthy animal whose genetics you can be sure of (in case you decide to breed down the line). I got burned twice from purchasing from a chain pet store. Since then, all of the geckos I've purchased from breeders online have been happy and healthy! Sorry to go on so much, but I love leos! (I also really like bandeds--I just haven't gotten my hands on one yet).

Well, I hope your heart heals soon, and I hope you decide to indeed get another gecko down the line!

Well, I've got a 75 gallon fish tank that keep mocking me because it's empty and I can't figure out if I want fish or something else.... who knows what will happen. One of my sisters breeds beardies and knows a LOT of other reptile breeders- so we'll see.

Hmm...I don't see one called 'Bearded Dragons.'

You could probably just start talking about them in the section you think is the closest fit and then a moderator can just move it for you if they think it would go better somewhere else.
