I have had my first set of C. v.b. eggs cooking for 8 weeks now and they still look good. This is my first possible coleonyx hatching after 4 seasons of leopard gecko breeding. I'm planning to keep the hatchlings in a rack (my leopard gecko hatchlings are mostly kept in sub-divided glass cages) with small ceramic hides. I'm assuming I can feed them very small crickets and mealworms. Anything else I should know?
I didn't even realized till I scrolled through the posts that I actually asked this same question 6 weeks ago in another post (and got no responses). It would be great to hear from someone, but if not, I'll just do my best and post the results.
i have no experience with hatchlings that small. however i did raise some canyon tree frogs from tadpoles. so, it might be wise to have a fruitfly culture on hand.
i buy them at a local pet store for about 5 bucks and they last about two weeks. much easier to keep and propagate than pinhead crickets.
good luck and keep us updated, pics and info please!
THanks. I was thinking about fruit flies, though in my experience they are not as "flightless" as I would hope. Photos coming if and when geckos arrive.
My first hatchling appeared today --hatched on day 58 at 81 degrees. Boy, they're small. I hope to have pictures up (in a separate thread) by the end of the weekend, and hopefully a clutchmate as well.
