Microscope photos of nail for ID
Following on from my previous thread, I am still having conflicting opinions on my Coleonyx species! I'd really like to get a definitive answer so... 'The Eylash Geckos' book by Seufer/Kaverkin basically says,
"Whereas the claws of C.elegans are almost entirely covered with scales and only the tiny tips of the claws protrude from the so-called sheath of scales, the claws of C. mitratus are completely exposed, their sheath of scales ending right beneath the base of the claws. This fact provides for a safe distinctive mark between these two species”
So I have pics of the nails of mine, I think they looked sheathed which would mean they are elegans, if anyone could please confirm this or get comparative photos of mitratus nails I would really appreciate so I can know for sure once and for all!
Many thanks.
