Default Eggs!

I noticed a few days ago that the female cat gecko had a lump on her side. I was thinking it couldn't be eggs, my luck isnt that good. THen I noticed her digging up the paper towl. I though hmm... maybe but nothing. Tonight I was just doing a routine inspection and saw a tuft of moss piled up. I thought I'd even it out and when I lifted it, I saw 2 white eggs. I've never had eggs so I don't quite know what to do. Can any of you guys help me please? Can you guys give me a good idea of temp and how to set up an incubator (i.e. plastic deli cup with vermiculite). Any help would be wonderful. Thanks

Congrats. If you're going to try to incubate them outside of the viv, I suggest putting them in a deli cup (or "gladware" type container) with perlite/vermiculte and water in the classic 1:1 ratio by weight. Then just stick them on a shelf somewhere cool like a closet and forget about them for a couple of months. I've had great success hatching them this way over the past few years. In general, average room temps are fine. The biggest challenge this time of year tends to be keeping them cool enough. Keep them under 80.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be on my way to lowes or home depot for vermiculite and for peet to replace the papertowel at the bottom. I've been meaning to do this for a while but now I have incentive. Ha 3 months is a long time. I hear its recommended that there is a temp change between day and night and not to keep them at a constant. Is there any validity to this?

Most people have a natural temp change between day and night temps in their homes. This would be as opposed to keeping the eggs in an incubator at a completely steady temp all the time.

Thanks again, I am keeping them at room temp. I put them in a gladware dish with vermiculite at a weight ratio of 1:1. I'll post pics later of my set up.

Yeah, good luck and a little patience!

2 Ethan:
How handle you the oxygen exchange?
Do you close the cover hermetically over 3 months?

Oliver, you make a good point...I forgot to mention that I would put a few small holes in the lid to allow for O2 exchange. Don't go overboard with the holes though as you don't want the eggs to dry out.

I put 2 small nails through long sides and 1 on each end and 1 on top. Should I maybe open the lid once a week or something?
