Default Q's about this gecko all advice needed and welcomed

hi guys i'm new to this site and am in need of some answers about this species of gecko. but first i'd like to introduce my self. my name is chris scruggs and have been captured and amazed by the cat gecko. i'm wanting to get a pair but want to have a good understanding about them first and make sure i know what i'm about to be responsible for.

how handleable are they? (dont plan on holding it all the time but would like to be able to pick them up)

are they very high sress?

can pairs be housed together or only introduced to breed? or if they ahve enough space would cohabittation be fine?

any other suggestions and knowledge is greatly appreciated.

thank you guys so much.

welkom here,

you can handle them but only when is necessary.

my opinion is that they are not very high stress, when you handle them right.

i only introduced them only when they are breeding

Hi and welcome to the forums. Cat Geckos are fantastic animals. But they are not a beginner species nor are they a species that appreciates handling. They're quite secretive and hide most of the time. My best advice for you is to read through the information in prior posts here. It's pretty much the largest collection of felinus information available. Answers to all of your questions and more can be found just by read through the old posts.

As Ethan says: They are gorgeous... very unique and special!

This night was the first one I disturbed them in the dark! I just saw them hunt for the first time, and man, that is just a pleasure to see.

Good luck using 10+ hours to read all of the threads! Because of that - and help from both Ethan and Matjaz (matsi) - I have so far managed to keep mine alive. Actually I bought the 0.0.3 (I hope it is 1.2 of course) with the idea that "They might not survive in my possesion" - but still all is alive, eating and growing fast!!

I take of mine with a few golden rules that I found on this forum:
- Handle with care only when needed
- NEVER let them dry out (I dusch mine every night)
- Feed every second to third day
- They won't take e.g Dubia roaches. Vax worms and crickets are the win!
- The foodsize should be around half the size you would usually give to a gecko that size!
- Don't give them heat - Mine is stable at around 24-25 at day (max) and 19 at night... celcius of course

Oh yeah, and vitamins/minerals on each third meal. To much will kill them as far as I understand.

This is the "rules" I follow, and so far it works fine. However I am a novice, so check, and then doublecheck this forum again. And if I am completely wrong I hope one of you not-so-new-to-felinus will help me (and dragonmaster) by correcting me!

Nice, huh?
