Has anyone experienced a big difference in incubation time among eggs from the same clutch? In the past the two eggs from each clutch would hatch out within a few days of each other. With my most recent clutch the one hatched out approximately two weeks ago while the other has not. The other is definitely fertilized and still appears to be viable. Any similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

Frank, mine usually hatch out within a few days of each other. But there's always exceptions. My rule of thumb is, if it looks even remotely viable, let it go. It rarely does any good to cut an egg open. If they aren't strong enough to get out of the egg themselves, they generally aren't strong enough to survive. So my advice would be to just let it go and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice, that's kind of what I figured. We'll wait and see. On the up side the one that did hatch out is doing great.

The longest stretch I can remember is either 15 or 18 days, I can't recall exactly which, but it's one of them. What I do remember is that the slower one hatched out much bigger than the earlier one was by then, even though he'd had a couple weeks of eating to his credit.
I agree with Ethan, just leave the egg, don't pitch it, nor open it.

Thanks Hilde, the egg that has not hatched is in fact quite a bit bigger than the one that did.
