Default borneo cat gecko (potential) shedding issues

hi, it's panicky me again (sorry!)

he'd been eating whatever i put in the cage no matter how many roaches/crickets there were
but i noticed that yesterday 2 crickets were still roaming around
and today only 1
i couldn't just let him be
so i looked under his hiding shelter if anything was wrong (photo again No need of Moss get a Japanese Wet Shelter)
he looked super sleepy but to my horror his skin colour had gone from dark brown to a pale beige (?)
i checked to make sure all was ok (temperature, humidity level etc)
and i felt very relieved (& ignorant!) that this just means that he is shedding
other than making sure of the humidity level and having something for him to rub on (slate, cork, bark)
what am i to do if the toe and tip of tail haven't shed properly like the rest of his body?
(is it much the same as for the leopard gecko? ie "If you do find your gecko has some retained skin after shedding, you need to lend a helping hand. Place the gecko in a small plastic container lined with warm, wet paper towels. Put a top on the container and let the gecko sit for 30 minutes. High humidity will develop in the container and this should loosen the skin enough to allow you to remove it easily with a pair of tweezers. If the skin has not loosened enough for it to be removed easily, leave the gecko in the container for another 30 minutes.")

all the previous entries regarding cat gecko shedding that i've found are for when they are babies
he's supposed to be about a year old now (wild caught so...)
how often do cat geckos of his age shed (i realize this varies but...)

he's still very shy and stays hiding in his shelter the whole time
i'm torn between leaving him alone so as not to stress him even more at this difficult time for him
and going into his hiding to check if all is ok
any tips or advice would be most welcome
by both of us
thanks
t.

I would leave him alone at this point. See what happens with his shed over the next few days and then deal with it if there's a real problem. You might want to mist a bit extra for the next day or two just to make sure humidity is up plenty. But otherwise, it's better to let him be than to stress him out.
