Default Totally nocturnal or out in the evening?(lighting query)

I have a 45x45x60cm glass enclosure(many seem to use gallons as measurements here, I assume that's US liquid gallons? This would be 32 according to a converter) sitting empty and I'm considering getting one of these geckos, they're certainly rather unique. Care sheets seem to mention temperature and humidity but not day and night cycles. Since the upper temperature range on most care sheets seems to be 27c using an incandescent bulb in the summer wouldn't be possible as this room is rather warm as it is. But I was wondering if people include low level UV lighting for if they come out in the evening? Or do they really only come out when it's dark so aren't going to benefit from it at all and so people just use heat mats and no lighting?

cheers, Joe. Oh and hi! First post and all.

Hi Joe, welcome to GU. I don't use any type of lighting or heat in my felinus enclosures. You can use lighting if you want to for live plants, etc. But I have yet to see any benefit otherwise as felinus do tend to be pretty much completely nocturnal. I have been successfully breeding them for quite a few years now and them seem to breed quite well without the need to change light cycles, etc. It seems to be based much more on temps IMO.

Oh ok well sounds like you do fine, guess it's just humidity and temperature. This room is pretty warm as it gets most of the afternoon sun, if anything I'll have to watch in the middle of summer as this room can get to 29-30, so I'll imagine I'll have to put it in another room. In Winter I don't think it gets below 18c even at night and so I might be ok without anything then. Well that makes things a bit simpler. I'll probably go with fake plants then and not bother with lighting for live ones.

Thanks for the information.
