Default Difference between two forms of G.luii

Here are some pics of my "green eyed luii" female next to a male from Sune.
Age of the female is unknown. The male is about 1 year and a half I think.

I think it is impressive how big is the difference between them.
According to Yuri the female could be a dark form of luii.
I know she's a wild cought but I don't have locality data.

Just for fun, a pic of another female :

Oh, if that's the green eye thing I have one of those. I always just assumed it was a different shade of orange? Mine was also darker. You should try and feed some insects that have been gutloaded with carrot and other yellow orange things and see if the eyes orange up a little. I think mine might have.

Hi Brian,

It would be interesting if you could post some pictures of yours.
I already feed my insects with food that contain carotin.
But there is still a big difference of color between the two.
The size is also amazing if I compare to my other luii.
But I would say that the SVL is about (at least) 120mm (maybe more) but I have difficulties to size her with precision.

Do you have more information on your luii ?(locality data, WC, size, origin of the animal ?)

Thank you a lot

It's a large wc female. I will try to take a pic later. It is larger then most, but I do have one or two other females that match her size. No locality data, but it looks like yours. Darker and bands a washed out whiteish color.

I had just assumed that it was variation within the species.

Is it common to have that bright of orange coloration or is it because the increase in carotin? Beautiful geckos by the way.

Feeding precursor pigments does brighten them up as far as I can tell but will not make a yellow one orange. If you stop feeding them a lot of pgments they loose some of the color too. Keep in mind it takes months to notice a change and they only change if they have not been getting pigments in the diet. i.e. a wc animal.

I suspect it's just a general thing like you find in birds that consume things in the diet.

In a captive bred well cared for animal it probably won't make much of a difference.
