Temperature help
Hello,
LOG IN TO CLOSE THIS AD
I built a 45*45*60 glass enclosure and i have a big problem with the temperature.
During the night, on winter, the temperature down to 17ºC and during the day no more than 18ºC. Those temperatures without use any kind of spot or light.
What can i do to raise the temperature? Use a thermal blanket, normal spot, ceramic?

hard to say which would be best without seeing the enclosure, though i don't think you'll need a thermal blanket. how about a pic or two?

yeah i agree about needing more plants, but that looks very nice. since you have screen on top, just put a ceramic bulb on top with a thermostat. this is going to lower your humidity so just keep an eye on that. i don't think you'll have much of a problem controlling temps. very cool enclosure, and yeah the UVB will help those plants. good luck

one more question before buy the bulb.
putting the ceramic bulb above the terrarium the temperature will increase in all the enclosure?
I suppose that the temperature on the upper side will be higher, but i also need a litle bit more temperature on the lower side.

well you want one side to be warm (25-26.7C) and one side to be cooler (approx. 20-21C). The gecko will move around to different sides to self-regulate his body temperature. If you get the upper portion of the cage 25-26C, the bottom will warm up a bit too. It's crucial that he has the cooler temps as well as the heat, though. 18C is a bit cold, but is more acceptable if he has the 25/27C areas too.

you will have a vertical heat-gradient. it will work just fine. I would try a bulb of 50-60 W; you don't need to raise it too much.
+1 to what Nate said! cool viv.Morelia spilota harrisoni * Liasis fuscus * Liasis mackloti * Liasis mackloti savuensis * Anteresia maculosa * Python regius * Gekko gecko * Rhacodactylus leachianus * Correlophus ciliatus

Hi,
Just a question for the more experienced gecko owners on this thread.
I have a baby crested gecko [1 month] and during the day i have a heat lamp on about 3 inches from the screen lid on his tank and it keeps the places around 78-80F for 10-12 hours a day and i turn it off a night i have only had him for about a week now but the temperatures are dropping to about 65-68F at night. Is this a problem he seemed a little cold when i brought him out this morning.
Thanks,
Cam

65 is cold. a drop down to 68 is perfectly fine.
