IMO tokays, actually this is a good question because they both have similar toe pads... but i think that it goes to tokays

Gekko have some of the best designed toe pads for clinging to smooth surfaces. My money would be on the tokay hands down. And no, cresteds are not the best. Yes, I love my cresteds and they are some of the coolest geckos on the open market, but there's a few species that are way cooler. Personally, of the New Caledonian geckos, sarasinorum are the best!

well this is quite interesting. My crestie isnt all that great on flat surfaces. Can they climb glass/mirrors? Would they be able to get on my ceilling for example?

cresteds don't do well upside down. they use their claw a lot when they climb. gekko use toe pads almost exclusively

Oh I see. So tokays and other similar types can climb and actual "suck" onto flat surfaces like their toe pads work as suction cups?

eh, not suction. it's actually a chemical reaction in the pads that forms a static cling of sorts. I'm not even sure how it works. but yes, tokays and other "true" geckos are better climbers in general

they have small hairs on their feet that stick to walls. You ever see spider man 1? when he first gets his powers he looks at his hand and sees small hair like things, thats what its like for climbing geckos (Gargoyles dont have this though )
