Default How long can they go without food change :S

Hello!

I have a baby crestie however last night I had to leave for a bit of emergency. Now im in another city until tomorrow! He has a good supply if CGD in there but i know it said change daily.

Is it bad if he has the same CGD for a few days? I have someone misting him daily however they dont feel comfortable opening the top because he gets out so fast.

just a bit paranoid about my new little guy!

Shouldn't be a problem. Depending on the humidity, it will either simply harden or it may mold over. Either way, if it has eaten relatively recently it will probably just ignore the food if it's not to its liking. If the gecko hadn't eaten for a while, and you presented it with a moldy food dish, I might be slightly concerned that hunger would drive it to eat something it would otherwise avoid, but if you think about what they would be eating in nature, it is more likely the soft, rotting fruit rather than that which is at its peak.

CGD oxidizes after a while, so it most likely wont even try and eat it. And tell your friend to grow a pair of you know what and throw in some new food XD

haha actually it was my mom who had to spray him. I forgot to tell her that Targa is nocturnal! So when i arrived she looked all sad and said she thought he was dead! I knew he wasnt though. I came up and he was perched on his hut. my mom was like oh that little bugger tricked me! she felt so bad all day!

Another question. I mixed up some for CGD and the next day its still kinda watery. does this mean i wasnt using enough of the powder? I used two parts water and 1 part CGD.

What should the final texture be? does it make a big difference if its a little too watery?

when mixed it should be the same thickness as something like yogurt or baby food, and no it doesnt really make that much of a difference, just less concentrated.

okay hmm weird.. when i mixed it up it was pretty watery even after 20 min or so, i checked it the next day in the afternoon and it was a gel texture.

Will they still eat it when its a gel texture? is it really needed to be changed every day? Im just wondering what ill do when i have to skip a day or two when im not around

well you dont have to feed them everyday, crested geckos have very small stomachs and should only be fed every other day, and sometimes what i do if they dont eat it when i leave it on the bottom (usually don't) is i dip their nose in it, then when they start licking their nose i put it against their face so that it kinda poors into their mouth. It may take a while but its worth it
