It's been 6 hours since I noticed a tiny slit in one of my eggs, oozing but no baby. No changes have happened and I am getting a bit worried. What do I do?! Has anyone had success in cutting eggs and if so, how long should I wait to do so? Do I just leave it alone? I feel so helpless and really want to help. :/
Ugh, sorry abot the title. Meant to type "Oozing".
After lots of thinking and worrying I decided to open the egg up, he didn't make it, and was gone when I opened the egg. :'( I am SO sad and in tears... He was my 3rd baby, my first clutch hatched nicely and healthy. Now I'm just hoping the same does not happen to his clutch mate, I'll have my eyes wide open.
Sorry the little one didn't make it. I know how it feels, last year I lost 4 babies in a row the exact same way. We think the eggs were calcified to much that the babies couldn't break free after pipping. Since then, when it's time for an egg to hatch I am just a wreck until I see the head sticking out then I know it will be ok.

Thank you and now I'm crazy nervous... How long do I let the other baby sit in it's egg? No slit or anything, just looks dark since the baby has taken up all of the space within the egg. Should I wait and let him come out on his own?
Well my luck just worsened... I noticed another egg oozing yolk and it's not near being ready to hatch, still has a month to go. Ever since I started feeding then the flavored type of CGD my female has been laying undercalcified eggs. Time to switch back.
What temps are you incubating the eggs? Heat spikes can cause premature hatching. Is the latest one oozing thick yolk or is it clear liquid? I've had eggs leak early and still make it if I patch the leak with a tiny piece of paper towel.
Have you had any successful hatchlings this year? How old is your female, and is this her first year?
