Unhappy So we adopted 3 crested geckos from this guys.....terrible things have happened HELP

so it is thursday oct 6th and we have noticed something terrible in the 3 tanks of 3 crested geckos that we adopted from a gentleman this past sunday. it was bad enough he didnt spray them at least twice a day kept heat lamps on them at all times, fed them crickets only, made them live in barren tanks including a reptibreeze, and used some weird sand substrate...... but thats not the worst part. we divide all the things from the tanks they came with and add all the extra vines and supplies we had into their tanks and found mold today. gray black green and white mold in every single one of their tanks and we are terrified of what might happen to these poor geckos. as soon as we noticed the mold we ripped out all things that had mold attached to them and threw them in our tub that is half filled with as hot as our water gets. we are now removing all of the sand, rebaking the wood, and cleaning the tanks with warm saltwater (no bleach in the house except commet). what else should we do for these guys? will they be ok the mold only popped up because we were actually spraying their tanks and making humidity which made the mold grow. will the geckos be ok if we just do a through cleanup of the tank? or should we monitor them very closely over the next few weeks?

Don't freak out. Just take things one step at a time...

Do you have any Dawn dish detergent? I usually alternate between a mild Dawn solution (rinsing very well afterwards) and Chlorhexidine when cleaning.

You might try running the decor through your dishwasher on "sanitize" if you have one with that setting (without any chemicals).

I'd also separate all of them, and make sure they're on paper towels.

Are you monitoring the humidity with gauges, and letting the cages dry out during the day?

they are all in separate tanks and yes we do. we give them a light spray like morning dew when we wake up in the morning and give a nice heavy spray once it gets dark outside. but other than that we just have water dishes. we were more worried about the health of the geckos more than the mold being in the tank. we ended up calling someone and they actually told us to use mouthwash and throughly rinse the tank out and that the alcohol in the mouthwash would kill everything and not harm the cresties. thank you very much for the help we will give a more better cleaning of the whole tanks tomorrow with the dawn soap we got ( we dont have a dishwasher *-*)we just needed a quick fix for right nowso that the mold wouldnt harm them
