Default why do they bob there tail

I am new to geckos and maybe it is a dumb question , but i am looking for a crested and notice some have bobbed tails why?

Do you mean they lost their tails? Its a defense mechanism where when they are scared enough they drop their tail in hopes that the predator will instead go for the wiggling tail instead of them. Cresteds are one of the few geckos that will never regenerate their tails, some people don't like them without them - but it poses no danger to the gecko if he/she has dropped it.

that must be it i was looking at websites wasnt sure if it was like they do to dogs fell off or just natural thanks im new to crested geckos
