Default Introducing Ginger my first Crestie!

Well she is home safe and sound. It was a tough decision but I will say this much, when the breeder showed me Ginger right in the beginning, I didn't put the container down the whole time......

Congrats!!

You might want to consider keeping her on paper towels at least for the first few weeks so you can monitor for poop, though. It's pretty common for cresties to go on hunger strikes right after big changes, so monitoring for poop is one of the best ways to know and be sure whether or not she's eating.

Thanks for the advise Laurelllbp!

So if she does go on a hunger strike how do I encourage her to eat?

Thanks. No I behaved lol. I actually may be adopting one in the next couple weeks. Plus one of the members of my local forum has a baby that's really pretty. High contrast yellow. So who knows I could end up with both lol.

I'd leave her entirely alone for the first two weeks, give her some time to acclimate. If after two weeks you still haven't seen a single poop, you might tempt her with a cricket dipped in CGD (either wet or dry). Don't let her fill up on crix, though- I'd just give her one and then leave her with the CGD still. I wouldn't worry about her not eating unless 2 months go by and still no poop.
