Default Crested Gecko Egg Stretch Marks?

Is it normal for a crested gecko egg to have stretch marks?

It was hatched the 31st of August. It has grown quite a bit in size, and has now developed stretch marks. Is this normal? I was wondering if I was doing something wrong with my incubation method?

Also on a side note, today I candled the egg and it looks as though it's not really close to hatch. At this point what should I be seeing? I'd say that I've been incubating at around 73 degrees. But the temperature does fluctuate a bit.

It's normal for stretch marks as it grows and close to hatching. I don't really candle my eggs but if they are close to hatching, they are generally cloudy and often you can't see the shape of the gecko. Earlier on you can see an outline and even movement.

However, eggs can grow even if they aren't fertile, so that's not always a sign of a baby inside.

Good luck!

I am still fairly new to cresteds, but I have candled my eggs, and here you can see what the egg looks like, when it is about to hatch. It is 71 days old in the vid, and hatched at 76 days (sunday the 6th ) The clutchmate hatched the 7th.
day 71 - YouTube

The other vid is of my other eggs. The video was shot on nov. 1st, and still hasnt hatched. Not sure when it was layed, but it weighed 3.2 grams yesterday
- YouTube

Hope it helps a little

You know I always found it funny that crested eggs got stretch marks. Crested females are sooo much luckier than human females :/

Your temps are fairly similar to what my geckos were kept at, so I would anticipate babies around 70 days or so. Are you able to see any veining yet? I remember it being fairly difficult to see anything going on in the egg at just the one month mark.
