Default Flipped my 10 gallon tank around

So my 3 and a half month old has been in a 10 gallon. I am planning on getting a zoo med 18x18x24 inches eventually. But I turned my 10 gallon tank on its end, so its tall. My gecko likes it, I can tell, but it's a bit of a pain to deal with. I usually use a uvb light a few hours a day. But there is no way to really make that work now. He is on cgd and crickets once a week. My whole point is, is it really ok not to use the uvb light? I want to use it again when I get the zoo med. But I am wondering if it will make a difference in his health or growth rate now that his body is used to it. I am asking this because I know some people say the uvb is needed and some say not at all. Last I weighed him a month ago he was 7 grams.
Also, different subject, has anyone ever seen their crestie get his teeth plate stuck on papertowel substrate when grabbing a cricket? I tried putting a cricket in the 10 gal, but it freaked me out seeing him have to pull his teeth off the towel, I had to help him once before. Guess I should put him in the kk for feeding crickets again.

it is not necessary to use a UVB, but i have read it makes their colors brighter. the zoo med will have a screen top, meaning that you can have it.

I don't use UV with any of my cresties.

And I feed crix only in a separate KK, or I handfeed.

You can still use one! get one of those twisty desk lamps and put the bulb in there..then you can place it in front of the front screen, sitting on a desk or whatever...they dont need one but I have used them on the babies and thats how i did it!
