Default How long has your crested gone without eating?

Hi I got my crestie about 5 weeks ago and so far he ate 1 cricket and a little cgd of his nose. I put fresh cgd every other day but I never notice any cgd missing. I put in the same exact spot to. I am going to clean his tank in a couple seconds and see if I can find any droppings but should I be worried if he is not eating much?

I've had a gecko take about 6 weeks to really start eating. Now she eats great! Also you may never catch them in shed, they happen very fast and they eat their shed.

I've had my crested about 3 months. I've never seen CGD missing from its bowls. I even put 2 bowls in. One on a ledge and one on the floor. Still saw nothing missing. But it is still alive so I'm guessing its eating it. So this month I started feeding (it) crickets and dubias. I do how ever dust my insects with CGD. I also feed insects in a separate empty container. It definitely eats those. I've seen it.

you really shouldnt dust your crickets with cgd. it is a diet that is made with all the nutrients your gecko needs and they are balanced 1:1. if your dust your crickets with that it is creating an imbalance and gives your gecko too much phospherus which is bad

Its funny that you say that. The Mods on the Repashy Forums say its fine. It is listed under their FAQ in the crested subforum.

That is a false statement. It is true it is made with all the nutrients the gecko needs but the rest of it is completely wrong. The only reason for not dusting crickets with them is because it does not stick so well. What I did with mine was I made wet CGD like you would for a dish and I dunked the cricket it in. I then tong fed the cricket with a glob of CGD to my cresties until they started picking up eating just the diet better.

I wouldn't say dusting crix with CGD is "bad," (and is certainly better than not dusting at all), but IMO there are better products for dusting- such as the Repashy ICB that is formulated and balanced specifically for that purpose.

And I very rarely catch any of mine eating. However, seeing poop and weighing them weekly is proof that they are in fact eating and growing.
