well in theory yes but what do you mean natural filter system?

just a side note i've always found that water feature in tanks are a pain to deal with especially for a cretied gecko when thay really aren't needed.

I think what they mean is a naturalistic planted vivarium. We have two forums dedicated to this type of housing here on GU. There's a "Naturalistic vivarium" forum and a "DIY do it yourself" forum. Look through both of those for some great ideas on how to make yourself a nice enclosure for your gecko.

dirt and rocks (like a sand mound). think of the ground water table and that water is filter by the earth above it.

quite simply you not going to get that within the limits of a tank you have to understand that ground water gos through a couple of hundred feet up earth and stone before it hit the water table and you just wont be able to recreate that in a tank.

i really do recommend you look through the naturalistic section on here and (Vivarium forum) our sister site because as of right now your question have been way to open ended for use to really even help you much on them.

so it would have to be the first step in the filter system? that would mean i still need a out side filter? or maybe it would be more like a sump tank then the ground water table.
