Ok, so one minute I go and look at my adult male crestie, and on only his left side there were dark streaks, kinda brownish. I came back maybe ten minutes later and BAM! no brownish streaks! I've heard some geckos change color based on the temp, but other than that I have no clue really.

When cresteds darken (usually) it is called "firering up' or "fired up". My male is blonde and gets black harlequin-ing. Different geckos change color for a large variety of reasons ex-temp, humidity, food, mates, no reason at all.... ect ect

It is quite common all geckos do it.

Mine goes from a very light buckskin to a beautiful orange rust color with darker markings.

The lighter (usually daytime) phase is called "fired down," and darker (usually nighttime) phase is called "fired up."

It's always cool to see how they can change when fired up. Here is an example of one of our own.

Those are awesome photos! Mine were not as noticeable as that but they were kinda in the morning fired down and then more towards evening fired up. Thanks for the input!
