In situ incubation
Yesterday afternoon I discovered that one of my female Phelsuma klemmeri had laid a clutch.
Although I initially pulled them out of the bamboo cleft where they had been laid, I decided to place them back where I found them and incubate in situ.
I put the screen up to prevent crickets from destroying the eggs. I will get a more accurate temperature reading, but believe the temperature of the bamboo was about 27.7 C (82 F) a few minutes after I placed the bamboo back in the enclosure. I want to get a good reading for daytime and night temperatures, as well as humidity.

Mesh over the bamboo is a very cool idea! I never thought of or saw that before.

I use fine mesh over the ends of plastic cartons for raising hatchlings, and discovered that rubber bands will fail suddenly -- just go limp and not hold the mesh on! I think the full-spectrum light probably promotes that. I discovered that elastic fails much more slowly, so gives me time to notice and replace it.
Just a tip!
Melody

did you candle the eggs before you put them back? the one on the left looks infertile to me... could be wrong, but it has that yellowish hue.
definitely a very cool idea though!

I use this method too to incubate glued eggs in bamboo. I use some para-cord tie a noose and use that to keep the mesh on. Its not affected by the heat, and comes off easily.

Both eggs are fertile, I examined them this afternoon (carefully). Melody and Jeff, thank you for the suggestions. I'll replace that band within the next few days. Though I look at everything a few times a day, haha.

I let my klemmeri do their thing. Notice the female isn't gravid anymore. Notice the hatchlings. Watch them grow up. Notice the female's gravid again.
