Default Help sexing borbonica

Hello everybody!
I need help for sexing my 2 Ph. borbonica mater.. i bought them as a 1.1 but i'm not so sure right now! i've also found a non fertile egg some times ago so there's at least one female for sure i will post some pics but the quality is really low, sorry..

This is the smaller one that i suppose to be female..

And this is the other one that is bigger and dominant in fact i divided the two animals from some time..

In order to undestand how to distinguish male and female does anyone have pics of sure males and females? from the upper and lower side if possible.. thanks in advice

Best regards
Jack

The first animal pictured looks female. Can we see the underside of the second animal?

Males in all of the borbonica sub-species/locales have very obvious pores just above their legs. Both males and females have an orange or yellow colouration around the base of their tale, so this is not an accurate way to sex them. Male borbonicas are typically larger than females.

Again, do you have pictures of the male from his underside (i realize it's difficult to get pictures...)?

Look at the 7th picture in this thread. You can see the obvious pores around the "vent" of the gecko.

Hi all! i'm back again for other questions..

I've been searching a male in this time and i've had one proposal that leave me doubtfull.. can you say if this borbonica is a male or not? i'm not sure about it and the guy who wrote me said that he bought it as a wc male but he doesn't mated with his females yet.. and it sounds strange to me! i have no doubt about his seriousness but anyone could make a mistake
The second question is if this borbonica is a mater as mine or is an agalegae one.. because his yellow colours make me doubtfull about it..

Here are two pics..

Thanks for your help!
regards
Jack

Well you do bring up some interesting questions!
Ii wont go into the morality issue as I guess that you will be slated by others. To answer your qustions one by one.
I cannot tell on the subspecies as I have no experience with agalegae. However,I would say its more likely to be mater as I would guess that it is easier to smuggle from Reunion than Algalega. All that I can say with authority is that it is an older animal.Older animals always go yellow or rusty coloured on their head and shoulders.Younger animals are green or blue.
I have just looked at my animals again and I am not sure with yours. My males have pronounced pores and hemipenal bulges. The photo looks like it has bulges but I cannot see the pores.Have you seen it in the flesh or is he just giving you photos? If you have seen it is it considerably larger than your females as full grown males always are?The other clue will be the price(if he isnt pulling a fast one).Males are usually about 200 Euros and females less than half of that.

Thanks Colin for your detailed reply!
I have the same opinion about sexing the animal because there's no signal of pores but he seems to have a bigger hemipenal area.. The seller asked me 150€ anyway.. he just send me these pictures so i don't know how big he is! i will ask him
Do you think his old age can influence his mating ability/taste?

If he is a male he will be able to mate at his age,the only thing is you dont know when he may die.Obviously an older animal will not live as long as a young animal.

You are being charged for a male.i know its a long journey but why not go to Hamm? You should see advets in the next few weeks for male b. mater and then you can see for yourself.

Yeah i'm looking at adverts for Hamm but unfortunately this time i can't go there.. i've been in March when i bought my cepediana and borbonica.. i will see if someone could go for me and take one male! if there will be any

Anyway i'm not convinced about this porposal so i think it would be a good idea to let this offer go..
