Default New Male Grandis Hiding

I received an adult male grandis about 2 weeks ago and introduced him to my female, both are about 2 years old. They haven't seemed to fight at all and I've already seen them mating so things seem to be going well.

Just 2 days ago I noticed that the male was hiding in the bamboo, dark, and not basking out in the open the way he has the rest of the 2 weeks he's been with me. My female is now heavy and gravid, but I haven't seen her display any signs of aggression towards him, he has no marks or injuries. They even used to share the prime basking spot.

I thought they had both adjusted, but is there a chance she is bullying him? Is there any other reason he would suddenly be more reclusive?

I bet she is being a ***** but you just don't see it because she is behaving herself while your watching! Imagine if you were about to squeeze to giant masses out If he doesn't come out in a few days and come back to normal I might take the female out for a couple weeks and put her back in. I did this with my P pasteuri when the male was being super aggressive to the female. After a couple weeks he went back in and they have gotten along very well ever since

Again this makes me think about how nice it would be to record on film everything that the darlings do during a day and then watch it in the "speedy mode"..

Thanks Andi!

Mako is now acting normal again. I think he was nervous because Kona was getting ready to drop her first clutch and she herself was more frantic. Now that the eggs are out both are basking and behaving normally, normal beautiful colors.

And so the countdown begins!
