Question Secrets to Keeping Standing's Day Gecko (Phelsuma Standingi)

Hello everyone, I have recently purchased my first Standing's Day Gecko. Before purchasing I did extreme amounts of research and preparation for my incoming hatchling, I know all the basic stuff that you would find on all the care sheets on the web but I'm looking for tips and tricks from other fellow Phelsuma keepers.

Thanks!

First off, I have never kept standingi, and therefore can't give you any first hand experience. However I think you'll find standingi aren't too difficult to keep, if you follow all the guidelines. Standingi like it a little dryer than other Phelsuma species. They're one of the largest species meaning you're going to need something fairly large to house one in long-term; 18 x 24 x 24 minimum, in my mind. I'm sure you're aware they'll benefit from UV lighting and weekly food dustings, too.

They need space and heat to do well. They do come from the south west corner of Mad and it is a much dryer and hotter region. I'd say ambients of 80-85F day w/ a 100F+ hotspot should do the trick. Make sure you have enough room for them to thermoregulate - it should be able to get to the 75-80F range near the floor of the tank. A night time drop down to the 70-75F area is perfect.

They love fruit and like to be kept bright. The brighter the tank the better their colors will be.
