Default P. Laticauda overdue eggs. Color?

I have some p. laticauda eggs that are 43 days into incubation. Can anyone describe what a viable egg looks like right before hatching? Upon being laid they were pinkish of course but now seem kind of dark. Is this normal?

That's normal, don't worry. The "dark" colour is the neonate developing . What temperature are you incubating the eggs at?

Agreed. Yellowish color usually means infertile. Your probably just getting too excited. They incubate from 40-45 days typically. I've had them hatch on the last day and I've had other eggs hatch a couple days late.

Don't cooler temperatures take a lot longer to hatch?

I actually traded 3 juvenile corns for a pair of p. laticauda. Two weeks later I had eggs!
