Default How to tell the sex?

I just purchased my first day Gecko and I am trying to figure out if it is a male or female... How can I tell the sex?

A good look at the vent area should be able to tell you at the right age. Although I have no experience with these geckos.... Post a picture of the vent area if possible.

Males have pores (scales with dots in the middle), females do not. Posting a close-up (in focus) photo of the area between his/her legs next time you catch him/her up against the glass can help.

Females actually have pores too, but the males' pores tend to have a yellowish/orangish color and it looks like there are hairlike strands coming out of the males' pores.

What species are you asking about in particular? The above is true for several species, but in particular the madagascariensis group.

Looking at the picture I would say its a young gecko.You need to take aphoto of the vent area on the underside to sex it.

Sadly right now it is I have the lights on the way... It will prob be a day or two till it arrives... I hate not having one but was told it would be ok for a few days

Hey, from the picture the gecko looks too young to sex. How old is it? Like everyone else said, you need to get a good picture of the underside at the base of the tail, and make it a close up if possible. The picture needs to be clear though otherwise it will be hard for any of us to tell.
