Default Grandis female is very shy

Hello everyone,
I have a couple of grandis for 3 days. Both are something like 3 or 4 months. Male is quite active and is always visible. Unfortunately female is very shy. I've seen her yesterday but when she saw me she suddenly go and hide. Today I've fed male with crickets and repashy MRP. The problem with female is that I have no idea when she is and I don't know whether she eats MRP or not. I have lots of plants and I just can't see her. Is it normal? I'm afraid that she can be sick if she doesn't eat something...
Temperature is something like 20degrees on bottom (and at night) of the tank and 25-26 on 3/4 of the tank.

Thanks in advance for reply

Do you have some horizontal bamboo basking spots? If you do, hopefully she'll eventually start spending time basking on those out in the open. 3-4 days isn't very long, hopefully she'll start feeling more comfortable soon.

Hey, 3 or 4 days is not long. Sometimes geckos can be shy for a while. I have had one for 3 weeks and still only see it every couple days for about 1 minute.

3-4 month old geckos usually can't be sexed accurately. Are they related? When I have 2 eggs hatch and raise those babies together after a month to 2 months one starts to be more dominate and the other hides a lot more. This could be the case with yours.

I use 2 feeding dishes in enclosures where I have seen fights over the Repashy. I also use velcro to put the bowl(a bottle cap) near their basking sites. If you have bowls in different places in the enclosure they are more likely to get some even if one is more dominate.

Your temperatures are too cold. You need to be about 28C during the day with a basking spot of about 34C. The bottom of the enclosure can be cooler. And night temps can drop to about 23-25C.

Hope this helps!

Are you using analog temperature gauges? If so throw those suckers in the trash can and get digital ones.

I have two, one digital (but it is for home use) and ane analog as for the aquariums. The difference between those two is something like 2 degrees. I see that male sometimes go into the bamboo so I suppose that female sits always in one of those. If it really is I'm afraid of MBD, she is not covered by the light inside the bamboo. Here is the photo of the set up

I suspect if you provide a basking spot up closer to 30C (85F) during the day, she should be out more.

Hello,
I think that problem was with the molting. Now she is quite active and is visible The other thing what I've noted is black tips on the males toe (not female). Of course he can climb on the glass and so on. Can it be dangerous?

Thanks for your help again

Any chance you could post a closeup picture of his toes? It's possible for shed to become stuck and rolled around toes. When that happens, it can shut off the blood circulation and cause the toes to die- that can be very dangerous.

Also- you still need to add in a warmer basking spot, that is very important for them.

I will try to catch photo of his toes. For a few days I use additional 35W desk lamp and it's hotter by a few degrees and totally I have around 100W.

Edit:
I've measured the temperature on the top of the tank and there is 32 degrees, so I think that it's ok. About the black tips, I've seen toes on the glass and under the light. I think that on the end of the toe phelsuma has more adhesive "parts" and it looked darker. Thanks for help
