Default New P. klemmeri babies

I was lucky enough to pick up Julie Bergman's last 2 klemmeri juvies at the Sac. Reptile Show last weekend! I was going to wait until I could get better pictures, but I can't wait to share them. Here they are as of now, in their little kritter keeper. (My apologies for crap photos. Wet acrylic is hard to shoot through!)

One is very bold, always watching me and climbing around, while the other one seems to stay hidden more often. They're such a fun little pair.

Congrats!!

Are you sure that KK will hold them? I've read numerous reports of P. klemmeri babies being able to slip right through the various gaps in KKs...?

Nice acquisition! P. klemmeri are really enjoyable to work with, especially the hatchlings. I agree that you should probably move them from those style enclosures. Alternatively, you can put some mesh or screen over the acrylic section and then snap the top on. Young klemmeri can get through some very small openings. If not through the plastic screen, perhaps around the door, even if it is closed. Good luck with them, I just want to see you enjoy them!

Oh, I've modified the kritter keeper to be escape-proof. I talked to Julie about the best way to do it and followed her advice. I added duct tape like she suggested, securely covering all of the gaps in the lid, and taping over a section of all of the vents to make them smaller. Each of the vents is about 1 mm wide and 5 mm tall; with the duct tape over they're about 3 mm tall. Since the width of the vents are only about the width of the geckos' eyeballs, I feel confident that it will hold them.

I've read so much about what escape artists they are, and I definitely would hate to have one get out!

The easiest way that I have found, after being told this by other enthusiasts is to put an old tight(pantyhose?) over the base. Then poke the leg through the opening and cut a hole in the foot.Tie the hole together with string or a rubber band and there you go.This of course only works with small Kritter Keepers but it allows you to feed them without escaping.
