Default Winter/off season?

Hey, I am curious to know how many keepers seperate their pairs of Phelsuma to give the female a break and recovery period. I know I've seen some people say they keep their pairs together year round, but I've also seen people say that the geckos need the break. Thanks in advance!

I keep my Phelsuma together all year round and reduce the time the lights are on. Thankfully my Phelsuma respect this. Now my Lygos I need to separate or they will breed all year round.

I keep mine in pairs and trios all year round>I find that with the species that I keep the lowering of the temperatures and decrease in the light levels halts the breeding activity.
I am convinced of this as I found my borbonica mater laying eggs last December and January which I couldn`t understand. It was only when I went into my garage late at night and I found that their timer had malfunctioned and was on for twenty four hours per day and therefore deduced that it was the increased light levels. When I fixed it and they went down to eight hours light per day the breeding stopped.I dont think that this species necessarily needs higher temperatures to breed.

Do you both just cut the lights time down suddenly or gradually over a few weeks?

I cut them down gradually by half an hour each week from about now to Christmas time from about fourteen hours to ten hours light. The lights are left at ten hours for six to eight weeks then inreased slowly again so that they are back on summertime by late March.
