Question Just a Simple Question...

So I'll be getting a giant day gecko soon and i still need one thing for to viv, BAMBOO. I can't find the stuff anywhere!! If someone could tell me where they got theirs it would be great!!

Also I'm new to the forums here so any info that isn't widely known about these guys would be great. Of course I did my own research on them but the internet knowledge base is pretty slim.

This is how I've got the viv set up so far. I think I need more plants and more places to climb, that's why I am asking about the bamboo.

Hey, I got bamboo from craigslist.com . I searched and found someone that had living bamboo they wanted cut and cleared. FREE! Maybe even put an ad up if nobody has one saying your looking. I like getting fresh uncut vs. getting it pre-cut because the pre-cut stuff is usually lying on the ground and from exerience is starting to rot. Good luck!

I have a neighbor who lets me take as much from his yard as I need, but before that I was getting it from a local garden center, they commonly sell it to use to stake plants.

You can also purchase from Micheals or Hobby lobby as a last resort. IT's expensive and not as good of an option of the other suggestions here.

Hmm... haven't thought about that. I do have a garden shop near where I live so maybe I'll check there tomorrow.

As for craigslist, no such luck. What I dad find looked nasty and was far away. I'll just keep on looking

Also have Michael's and a Hobby Lobby close by so last resort will be going there

I get mine from: Wal-Mart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot & Michael's. Each store in my area carries a different size, so I usually stock up when I find the size/s I need.

So I got some bamboo and put it in there for the basking spot...

Now with the color it attracts more heat... not if that's ok or not. The temp needs to be around 95 but when I test the spot with a temp gun and it's about 91 or so. Is that ok for the basking spot or should i move the bamboo up?

looks like a good perch, but I would move it higher in your tank to make sure it can be used to bask. A lot of the heat will dissipate if you keep it that low.

I moved it up, it just seems like it would be too hot. I have a 100w bulb in there and it gets hot...

100w? Wow, ok that might be a little much but they can thermoregulate. I would just make sure to keep an eye on your gecko...
